After moving Tarka to the sailing club I’m finding it much harder to get jobs done to prep for this year’s sailing season. Having said that I have enjoyed being back at the club and for the odd days spent at the club doing jobs I’ve spent time with old friends and enjoyed their company and helping out where I can.
A few years ago I supplied some thick manilla rope to create a handrail barrier stretching across the fro t of the clubhouse. My first return visit to glasson I noticed the rope had perished at one end so I made a mental note to fetch another length of the same to splice in to repair the barrier. This was done and was my first contribution to the club.
On with Tarka jobs, I serviced the engine, new oil and oil strainer. I replaced the propellor with a less worn unit, with larger blades. Some small areas of damaged epoxy in the bilges were scraped out and filled. This needs to be sanded flat and another epoxy layer over the top to finish. I’ll do this one next visit.
Next time I’ll get the cover off and give the brightwork including mast, peak, boom, bowsprit and bunkin a clean and re-oiling. I’ll need to repaint the hull so I need to decide on the colour of paint needed for the outside and probably to repaint the cockpit to freshen up. After that it’s repoli
