Moved Tarka

Had issues with my car last week and it’s currently still on the ramps in a local garage. Down to the appalling condition of the roads in cheshire no doubt, it suffered a chain reaction  seized calipers causing hubs to overheat leading to bearing seal meltdown leading to badly worn bearings. Goes without saying I should have taken better care of the car and had the brakes overhauled before the winter.

So keeping to the original plan I managed to borrow a 4×4, pictured below, from the garage and tow Tarka to the sailing club on Saturday. There was a talk at the club made by David Moss who built tarka in 1997. David who is still working on traditional wooden boats at his boatyard in Skipool Creek is in his 78th year. 50 years a boat builder and no signs of him giving up his lifelong passion for wooden boats, giving talks about his life and experiences was an inspiration. What a guy, he is my hero, and as he said, all the boats he made he regards as his own, whereas the people who purchase them are merely custodians of his craft. Don’t worry David, I’m looking after Tarka (aka Trudie).
