It’s been very mild weather so far this winter but freezing weather will arrive very soon. Last steps at winterising tarka include taking out the water from the storage tank and purging the brass hand pump, top up the fuel tank, covering the engine, switching off the solar panel and removing battery. Floors have already been up and bilges cleaned after last sail a few weeks ago.
My distress signals are way out of date so I’ll need to replace these over winter.
Here’s how the washboards work on Tarka. A wonderful design that never ceases to amuse. When I first tried this I discovered that the bottom two boards, although very similar were not interchangeable, the bottom one has a steeper angle along the bottom to match the threshold and inserting them in the wrong order prevents the other pieces fitting.
