It’s been a busy couple of weeks and not had much time to work on the trailer. But I’ve had a few thoughts on what direction the next phase will go.
Firstly I’ve been looking at the existing supports and where they contact the keel and it seems the overhang is no more than any of the inter-roller distances and so I’m inclined to think now, and since the boat is a very sturdy construction that no extra support under the skeg area is needed during transport.
Secondly I’ve looked at the position of the short metal stub that used to support the diagonals before they were chopped, and can think of no better use for these than to rebuild shorter diagonals and reattach to the original mounting points on the rear cross member. This will form a good sturdy vee shape providing support with some carpeted planks will provide an excellent vee guide for use in recovering the boat and getting the bow aligned onto the central roller.
