Earlier in the year I started to think about where some experience of tidal waters could be gained. Thinking that this will vary from place to place I concluded that it would be s good idea to visit one place regularly over a period of time to get to understand how the tides work and how tides affect the whole process from launching and retrieving, going on a sail for s day, manoeuvring the boat under sail and under power etc. I searched for a suitable location not to far away and came across this place, the river Lune, or more precisely the river estuary with a suitable launching ramp that provides access as far as the sea one way, and places to visit going up with the tide towards Lancaster. The first trip out was a bit of a wet blanket. No wind but cold rainy weather. But it gave me a chance to practice and start to increase my experience.
